Chef Owen Gaube
As a child growing up in an Italian family in Ithaca, New York, Owen watched his mother and grandmother prepare traditional Italian meals from scratch. This ignited a culinary passion which led him to Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, SC in 1999. After graduating and working in several Italian restaurants in Charleston he took his talents to Beaufort, SC. There he developed a deeper love and appreciation for fresh and local seafood and produce. Despite his love for the city of Beaufort, Charleston called him home.
Upon his arrival back to Charleston, he accepted a chef position at Trattoria Lucca. A few years later, he was one of the opening chefs for Lucca's sister restaurant Coda del Pesce, where he honed his culinary skills. His culinary adventure led him to run The Porch Cafe in I'on. After 3 years as an executive chef, he decided he wanted to go out on his own.
OG Catering specializes in private home dinners & catering events. Owen is equally inspired by and versatile in cooking with local and international ingredients. He strongly believes in sourcing locally and elevating flavors. His philosophy is that a meal should be an occasion and memorable.
Let's dine
Every dinner we prepare is different. We start by talking with our clients and customize a menu specifically for them. The goal is to get to know each other a bit and go from there. We love to prepare family style dinners in a four-course layout. Dinner begins with a few appetizers, followed by a pasta course, then an entree and finishing with dessert. It is a beautiful way to dine. Our passion lies in making fresh pasta from scratch, always a crowd pleaser. A dinner with a show and everyone learns the basics to fresh pasta making. Chef Gaube credits his grandmother for his love of cooking. She always made sure everyone was well fed and enjoyed themselves. Please allow us to do the same for you and your loved ones.
